Appropriation V. Plagarisim

Appropriation in art is taking a piece and using pre-existing images and applying them to the original piece and transforming it but not by a lot. As this is artists putting their own twists on a piece that is not theirs' people could see this as plagiarism. After researching most people consider plagiarism in art as "the unauthorized use or close imitation of existing artwork and the representation of it as one's original work." While others see appropriation as the direct taking over into a work of a real object or even an existing work of art. This explains plagiarism as copying another's work without permission, and appropriation as using pre-existing work and adding a slight twist on someone else's work. Overall, these topics are often looked at as the same but mean very different things.
